Acting as one of the Advanced’s Data Protection team’s subject matter experts on all aspects related to Data Protection, the Senior Data Protection Manager (SDPM) role works with the Data Protection Analyst (DPA), and reports into the Global Data Protection Officer (GDPO), who is ultimately responsible for providing global advice on Data Protection Legislation, and maintaining and improving privacy maturity across the Advanced business.

What You Will Do:

- Providing advice and guidance on complex data protection matters across the business, escalating to GDPO as appropriate
- Reviewing and revising existing Data Protection (DP) and related policies, creating new policies and procedures where gaps exist, for review and sign off by GDPO
- Assessing the need for, and undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), assessing risk and advising on mitigations, in particular for each product offered and when improvements to products are proposed
- Improving existing Privacy by Design tools and supplementing these further, examples being DPIA triage, DPIA light, DPIA full, DPA Controller and Processor playbooks, central handbook for the wider business for signposting and awareness of DP matters
- Embedding accountability by ensuring sign off of risks by appropriately senior key stakeholders, creating, maintaining and improving RACIs and risk matrices in conjunction with GDPO
- Reviewing and (where required) delivering data protection (DP) training for new starters, existing colleagues, and colleagues in high risk roles, such as Sales, Marketing and HR
- In conjunction with GDPO, maintaining a DP governance framework, preparing materials for ELT briefings, chairing DP Champions meetings with key stakeholders across the business
- Managing responses to Data Subject Rights Requests, requesting assistance where appropriate
- Assisting with responses to client questionnaires and certification audits
- Leading on the maintenance and improvement of Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and Data Maps
- Leading on implementation of a central Data Protection system to include ROPA, in consultation with GDPO
- In conjunction with the wider DP and Infosec teams, manage personal data incidents (including advising, tracking, and reporting on these) escalating to GDPO, CISO and Senior Data Privacy Counsel as required
- Reviewing and advising on complex Data Processing Agreements, International Data Transfer Assessments, Standard Contractual Clauses and Transfer Risk Assessments and collaborating with Senior Data Privacy Counsel to ensure that these are put in place in a timely manner

- Significant experience of working in a Data Protection centric role, advising on UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and GDPR
- Qualification in Data Protection (such as CIPM, PC.dp or equivalent) or Qualified Solicitor
- Significant experience of implementing Privacy by Design and associated processes such as DPIAs, policy creation and dissemination, creation of RoPA
- Ability to apply knowledge of applicable data protection legislation appropriately and pragmatically in a large organisation
- Experience of reviewing and amending Data Processing Agreements and Article 28 requirements, and implementing International Data Transfer Agreements, SCCs, TRAs and/or TIAs.
- Excellent understanding of Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation
- Significant experience of incident management and responding to Rights Requests
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent influencing skills, ability to bring about positive change
- Experience juggling conflicting and changing priorities, managing stakeholder expectations
- Willingness to take the initiative, ability to work well under pressure
- Willingness to be a supportive team player and ask for help when needed
- Confidence working with the MS product suite, including Excel, Visio
- Wider experience advising on international data protection legislation, particular in India, Australia and other jurisdictions in which Advanced operates
- Experience advising on E-Privacy Directive and other international electronic communications laws
- A level of understanding of cyber security and the ways in which technical measures may be employed to secure data
- An understanding of Software as a Service (Saas)
