Job overview

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are seeking a Deputy Director of Nursing, Quality & Governance. We are looking for a self-motivated leader, with a passion for improving service user experience, staff engagement and a passion for governance.

Working with the Director of Nursing Quality & Governance, you will deliver a robust and evolving quality assurance framework and governance structure to ensure accountability and transparency, where quality assurance is integrated alongside quality improvements.

This role is pivotal in providing support to deliver safety improvement projects from patient safety priorities and emerging patient safety themes in line with the implementation of the patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF). You will have proven change management, quality improvement, and project management experience as well as an understanding and appreciation of the various clinical patient safety issues to drive the safety improvement agenda.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of key performance indicators and compliance against quality/risk/governance agendas
  • Knowledge of the NHS and the improvement agenda, particularly in relation to service delivery.
  • Knowledge of CQC Fundamental Standards and associated compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of improvement methodology
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of programme management methodologies

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant professional (Clinical) qualification
  • Educated to Master’s degree or PG Qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Programme management qualification

  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development

  • Significant senior level experience of healthcare and managing clinical governance and clinical effectiveness within large/ complex NHS organisation (must include experience in an acute care setting)
  • Strategic planning and project management
  • Experience in service improvement techniques /QI methodologies
  • Proven performance management of services and delivery of targets within agreed timescales
  • Experience of working collaboratively and in partnerships with other organisations
  • Experience of successfully leading and managing a diverse team
  • Experience of delivering change in service delivery /culture shift
  • Ability to plan and lead multiple complex projects and / or project work streams at once, ensuring work is delivered to time and to budget
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain discretion and use initiative
