Overview of the Role

Research Fellow in Implementing a Culturally Adapted Treatment for Depression (ICAT-D)

School of Medicine, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in mixed method and applied health research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

The Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development has been awarded funding from Bradford Integrated Care Board to evaluate the implementation of a faith- sensitive therapy for depression in Muslim communities. This 18-month study will involve drawing on research evidence to support the implementation process and developing guidance for primary care and voluntary sector mental health services wishing to implement the culturally adapted approach.

This will add to current knowledge on implementation of culturally-sensitive interventions, for which evidence is currently limited.

You will contribute to all aspects of the project delivery as required. The main roles will include research activities to inform a sustainable training model, the adoption of effective implementation strategies and development of an implementation toolkit.
You will synthesise existing research evidence on implementing interventions to address health inequities and collect and analyse qualitative data from mental health professionals and people from Muslim backgrounds with lived experience of depression.

You will also support a Quality Improvement Collaborative made up of all relevant stakeholders and an Advisory Group of people with lived experience, for which you will need excellent communication skills.
