Housing is one of this firm's core markets and focus areas for growth. Their Housing Management team operates as one team with lawyers based in all four of their national offices. They advise a considerable number of registered providers, ranging from many of the top ten largest providers in the country to smaller, specialist providers and everything in between.
Whilst the majority of their work is for housing associations, they also increasingly provide housing management services to a range of other types of organisations including local authorities, care providers, the NHS, universities and charities.
The role
The Housing Management team has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and is now one of the largest housing management practices in the country. Their track record of delivering high quality advice means that growth is set to continue, with a number of major tender wins adding to an already impressive list of clients based across the country.
They are looking to further expand and a vacancy has arisen for an associate to join the team in their Leeds office (with flexible hybrid working).The role will involve advising social landlords (and other landlords) on a wide range of housing management issues, including:
- Disrepair claims
- Injunction claims
- Cases involving the Equality Act 2010 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Breach of tenancy claims
- Possession claims
- Access injunctions for gas and electricity safety
- Failed succession cases
- Leasehold management advice
- Service charge disputes
What they are looking for from you
Previous experience of work for social landlords is essential, with experience of acting for housing associations being desirable.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills, which are key to the role:
- The ability to manage client expectations and adhere to KPIs
- Confidence in working directly with clients
- An aptitude for drafting and legal analysis
- A team player with a keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels
- Commitment to the social housing sector
Hybrid working
They operate a hybrid working model based on the needs of their clients, teams and people. Their core business hours are 9am - 5:15pm Monday to Friday, but they're open to people working more flexibly around those times.
