Job Title Rail Quantity Surveyor

Location Manchester with a mix of hybrid working
Job Summary We are currently seeking an experienced Rail Quantity Surveyor to join our clients dynamic team This role involves overseeing financial aspects of railway construction and infrastructure projects ensuring costs are managed efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the rail sector with a focus on cost management contract administration and project delivery
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial and contractual elements of rail projects including cost planning budgeting and forecasting
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and reporting to ensure projects are within budget and on track for financial success
  • Prepare tender documents contracts and procurement strategies in line with industry standards (NEC JCT etc )
  • Manage subcontractor payments and assess variations ensuring compliance with contract terms
  • Work closely with project managers engineers and other stakeholders to deliver accurate cost estimates and manage any changes
  • Assist in dispute resolution and provide contractual advice to the project team
  • Ensure compliance with health safety and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the rail industry is essential
  • Strong knowledge of rail-specific contracts (NEC3 4 NR suite) and commercial management
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying Commercial Management or related field
  • Membership or working towards membership with a professional body (e g RICS ICES)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in cost management software and tools
