Are you an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for working with older adults and making a real difference in their rehabilitation journey?

We have an incredibly rare opportunity for you to join our team at UHBW as a Physiotherapist within our Older Person’s Rehabilitation team, based in the Therapy Outpatients Gym at South Bristol Community Hospital!

We are a small, welcoming team that specialises in providing outpatient care to older people living in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) who are at risk of falls or frailty.

You will be supported by a highly skilled and experienced band 7 physio and OT, the Adult Therapies Medicine Pathway Lead and Outpatients Divisional Lead. You will have the opportunity to participate in a robust in-service-training .

Main duties of the job

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified Physiotherapist with a strong background in rehabilitation
  • Excellent clinical skills in assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients, particularly in outpatient settings
  • Be able to work independently and make decisions regarding patient care without senior supervision
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A compassionate, patient-focused approach to care

You will contribute to therapy-led falls clinics and the Rapid Assess Clinic for Older People (RACOP). You will deliver strength and balance groups & carry out individual assessment and intervention, either face to face or virtually.

The outpatients therapy gym runs a Monday - Friday service, excluding Bank Holidays.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Healthcare Professions Council registered
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in Relevant Special Clinical Interest Groups
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team and/or multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
  • Evidence of previous experience and participation in audit
  • A variety of experience in core areas as post graduate physiotherapist i.e. musculoskeletal, acute inpatients, respiratory and neurological dealing with a wide range of patients with differing needs
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience at Band 6
  • Clinical Supervision of students and assistant staff
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a community setting

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate assessment, analytical and reflective skills across a diverse patient group
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to effectively perform patient assessments and interventions, including manual therapy and therapeutic handling
  • Ability to cope in a stressful environment undertaking moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities
  • Competent Information Technology skills
  • Knowledge of clinical governance & its application to Physiotherapy
  • Presentation skills
