Quality Inspector
Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to join our team.
The successful candidate will ensure that all products including incoming and internally produced components meet the quality standards required by the customer and the organisation. You will be responsible for identifying and raising quality issues and to ensure a prompt resolution.
Hours of work: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 16:30
This is a full-time position based in Wolverhampton initially before moving to our Wednesbury site.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular quality checks and inspections by measuring dimensions using manual, electronic measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, verniers, dial indicator, talysurf surface measurement, shadowgraph)
- Carry out first off and final release inspections including dimensional reports.
- Monitor (physical/first hand) work in progress inspections
- Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable goods / processes
- Assist the maintenance of the calibration system by ensuring all measurement equipment is registered and calibrated on time of due date
- Liaise and effectively communicate with internal and external colleagues to resolve quality issues promptly and efficiently to prevent compromising quality and safety standards
- Visually compare work pieces against one another to assess/detect manufacturing variations in processes
- Assist and advise operators on part visual acceptability, and measurement and process procedures as required
- Reports and documents quality problems or findings to the Chief Inspector
- Maintains record of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts
Qualifications:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a C grade pass in Maths and English.
- NVQ or Equivalent advantageous but not essential
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of fastener products is an advantage (but training will be given).
- A minimum of 1 year’s previous experience using computer and measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good level of maths / numerical skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Flexible and adaptable
- CMM Operation and programming advantageous
- Good levels of concentration and attention to detail
- Is able to effectively communicate
- You will have been responsible for the quality of your own work
