Job overview

We are seeking an appointment of an exceptional strategic nurse leader as the Velindre Cancer Service Divisional Director of Nursing, AHP & Health Science. Are you an inclusive, compassionate, nurse leader with a significant track record of regional / partnership working and transformational change to help us on our exciting journey?

This is an integral part of the Divisional Triumvirate, working in partnership with the Divisional Director and Divisional Medical Director to lead and transform Velindre Cancer Services.

As a successful candidate you will possess exceptional strategic and operational expertise to deliver and evaluate progress in delivering the Trust’s vision in world class cancer care, progressing into the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) in Cardiff.

When complete, the new Velindre Cancer Centre will be a world class facility which provides specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales.

The post holder will be expected to work proactively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the Trust discharges its functions effectively and efficiently and professional and scientific standards are adhered to.

You will be a clinical role model and will be passionate about improvement and patient-centred care. You will possess relevant professional qualifications plus additional specialist management knowledge, acquired through training and experience.

Main duties of the job

Holding the most senior nursing, AHP & health science position within Velindre Cancer Service, the Divisional Director of Nursing, AHP & Health Science will:

  • Provide strategic, visible, clinical, professional and compassionate leadership, for nursing, AHP and healthcare science.
  • Provide high level specialist expertise for service and clinical transformation, strategic patient pathway review, patient safety, quality and experience, innovation, efficiency and performance.
  • Provide strategic leadership on clinical model redesign and transformation, continuous improvement in patient care delivery, clinical quality and outcomes.
