Trade Compliance Specialist (Fixed Term Contract)

We are partnering with a leading manufacturer who is seeking a detail-oriented Trade Compliance Specialist to join their team on a fixed-term contract.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of export control regulations for the US, UK, and EU, ensuring compliance with international trade laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply export control laws and regulations from the US, UK, and EU to ensure adherence to applicable policies.
  • Classify products and technologies under the appropriate Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) and local control lists.
  • Determine licensing requirements and coordinate export license applications.
  • Maintain accurate export records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in preparing export documentation, including end-use and end-user certifications, shipping invoices, and declarations.
  • Review and validate export transactions to prevent violations of export control laws.
  • Conduct due diligence on customers, suppliers, and transactions to ensure compliance with international sanctions and restricted party lists.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams regarding export control requirements and procedures.
  • Assist with compliance audits and inspections as needed.
  • Work closely with internal departments, including supply chain, logistics, and legal, to support compliance initiatives.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies when required.

Requirements:

  • A degree or certification in international trade, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding and experience with export controls for US, UK, and EU.
  • Prior experience in trade compliance, international shipping, or a related role is essential.
  • Familiarity with export classification (ECCN, USML, etc.) and embargoed/restricted party screening tools.
  • Proficiency in trade compliance software and systems is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on regulatory compliance.
