For more information on the Job Description and Responsibilities please click the link below. More detail about the role The Diabetes Specialist Nurse role is in-patient and outpatient-based, providing support, care and education to our patients with diabetes.
The role provides significant emotional support to those with new diagnoses and those managing long-term conditions. An essential element to the role is the ability to provide education, at a level accessible to the individual, both to our patient group and to our Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust colleagues across the Northern site.
As competence in the specialty progresses there will also be the opportunity to undertake and utilise the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical expertise to our patient group.
You will display excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with integrated care partners as a member of a team as well as autonomously, following a thorough induction period. You will strive to promote a culture where care is safe, timely and well-coordinated for patients with diabetes in our community.
There will be an initial period of comprehensive training with the Diabetes Specialist Nurses who will nurture your skill development according to established competencies. There may be an opportunity for remote working. Previous experience as a Diabetes Nurse is desirable but not essential and we are equally keen to receive applications from individuals at band 6 who are motivated to learn and rise to a new challenge!
