The role would suit an experienced engineer with a practical leaning or a rail manufacturing operative team leader looking to broaden their skillset
Responsible for a range of activities with respect to supporting the delivery of specific client service obligations and wider turnkey activities The role is both technical and practical and includes the ability to be hands on whether performing activities within the departments workshop such as manufacture assembly testing and kitting or on site at client s premises delivering turnkey projects
The role requires the ability to author technical documentation such as site-specific risk assessments method statements test procedures and be able to estimate effort and timescales as part of bidding activity As a senior engineer be self-sufficient solve problems prioritise activities and support the Services Manager
The role will necessitate the need to work away from home within non-core hours on an ad hoc and longer-term basis as dictated by project requirements
The key requirements for this Senior Services Engineer role are
Service contracts- Client liaison and visit coordination
- Fault finding in liaison with office-based Engineers if required
- Replacement of equipment and
- Testing and calibration of equipment
- Manufacture of test boxes or small-scale assembly of production items e g harnesses electro mechanical sub-assemblies
- Plan and lead onsite works through coordination with relevant Project Engineer
- Plan and coordinate mobilisation activities prior to onsite activity i e method statements modification procedures labour provision tooling requirements calibration preassembly kitting etc
- Production of Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure onsite safe working practices
- Produce modification testing and commissioning procedures
- Produce cost estimates installation timescales and technical input to proposals for bidding activity
- Take responsibility for and manage sub-contract labour including competence management
- Monitor onsite progress to ensure delivery to project timescales
- Support and coordinate (with procurement) supplier First Article Inspections defining kitting requirements and ensuring on time delivery of material to site
- Provide onsite interface to clients including promoting the company and its values
- Deliver onsite technical support activities both to the installation team and back to base as required
- Develop strategies processes to ensure most efficient material supply onsite activity
- Manage and if required deliver rectification programmes
- Manage any tooling training requirements within the business
- Support design reviews with a focus on design for installation maintenance
- Have a practical technical qualification in Engineering
- Ability to plan and lead vehicle modification programmes
- Understands installation modification techniques - electrical and mechanical
- Understanding of engineering considerations and safety critical aspects in particular
- Ability to perform routine electrical and mechanical manufacturing tasks
- Ability to perform electrical and mechanical testing tasks
- Good fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership in HSQE
- Computer literate (MS Office applications)
- Able to technically author engineering documentation
- Willing to work away from home on regular basis and work non-core shift times
- A valid driving license
