The Quality Manager will be responsible for the design, creation and implementation of a quality management system in order to acquire JACIE (Joint Accreditation Committee-ISCT & EBMT) accreditation and thereafter to manage the system ensuring that the Bone Marrow Transplant Service becomes progressively more effective in quality terms, meets Bone Marrow Transplant Service regulatory standards and maintains accreditation requirements.

The Quality Manager will work closely with the Clinical Programme Director and Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists. The Quality Manger will establish the data and information requirement for JACIE standards and accreditation. This will involve the design and development of appropriate new models and processes for data management, the promotion and facilitation of use of the knowledge and information throughout the department.

The Quality Manager will have the skills and ability to promote quality, safety and service improvements within all areas of the service and across the division. Organisation, preparation, planning, data collection, audit and process control are central to effective Stem Cell Transplant services; they are also vital to clinical governance and risk management within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Write & manage policies and procedures. Policies will impact beyond own area of activity

Maintain and upgrade the quality system documentation structure (Q-pulse) and layout ensuring it is effective and easy to use

Maintain accurate records of transplant activity for submission to commissioners, BSBMTCT and EBMT registries. Report activity, clinical variances and incidents at the monthly project meetings

Coordinate and participate in local meetings, decision making and policy implementation

Participate in weekly MDT meetings and coordinate the monthly shared care SCT MDT with BHOC

Lead for monthly JACIE SCT meetings

Be familiar with the area of work for which they are Quality Manager; relevant statutory requirements, clinical governance, risk management and quality audit policies and procedures of the Trust and the system(s) of accreditation required

Contribute to and develop established in-house educational programmes for health care professionals, addressing all aspects of the JACIE accreditation process, transplant procedure and patient pathway
