Summary – basic function of the role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis in Cramlington, Northumberland. This role is crucial in optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. You will play an active role in new product introduction and manufacturing cell design, ensuring quality, safety, and cost reduction across operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Engineering teams in a precision CNC machining and assembly environment.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflows, space requirements, and equipment layouts.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure product designs align with the most effective manufacturing processes, recommending changes to reduce costs, enhance quality, and improve production times.
  • Partner with the Production team to continuously streamline and standardize existing processes to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update item master data, including bills of materials and product routing to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation, including assembly instructions and standardized work methods to uphold quality standards.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve manufacturing process issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
  • Assess equipment needs, supporting the preparation of capital investment proposals for process enhancements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, actively championing Health & Safety compliance.
  • Act as an ambassador for continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to Lean Manufacturing and process optimization

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across departments.
Education and Experience
  • Degree in Engineering is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or machining processes.
  • Hands-on experience in a CNC machining and assembly workshop environment.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or process improvement would be beneficial
