Job overview
We currently have part-time roving ward clerk vacancies (see below) working across all wards out of hours and weekends, managed as part of the Patient Administration Services Team.
21 hours - over a 2 week rota 15:00 – 21:00
Week 1 = Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Week 2 = Tuesday and Thursday
Flexible working approach is essential as the Patient Admin Services Team provides 24/7 services. Applicants must be able to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays, including Christmas day.
Applicants must also be willing and available to work outside of their shift pattern initially for training purposes.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will predominantly be ward based, providing an administrative and clerical service for the needs of the ward on a daily basis and ensuring real-time data management and data quality for ward activity, as well as administrative tasks required specific to the ward.You will also at times be expected to cross cover on other wards.
This will give the opportunity for individuals to develop new skills and a chance for further development working in other areas within the Patient Admin Services Team.
You must enjoy working within a multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to relate to children, parents and members of the public, complemented by excellent organisational and communication skills.

Experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience working in an administration role within NHS or equivalent environment
Physical Skills
Essential criteria- Fit and able bodied
- Able to lift heavy files
- Able to climb stepladder to retrieve files
Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ level 2 in admin or equivalent qualification
- ECDL or equivalent qualification
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent level in English and Mathematics
IT skills
Essential criteria- ECDL or equivalent qualifications or experience
- Relevant evidence of working with patient administration systems or equivalent
Approach and Values
Essential criteria- Articulate, methodical and able to work well within a team
- Polite and self-motivated
- Demonstrate ability to remain calm under pressure
- Willing to learn and develop work role in line with performance development expectations
- Committed to undertaking training to fulfil the requirements of the role
