Transport Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per year

This is a crucial role, tasked with ensuring that the operator's license requirements are met through the effective management of policies, procedures, and compliance.

• Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance with relevant legislation.
• Lead personnel activities, manage driver schedules, and liaise with operations departments to ensure smooth functioning of transport services.
• Ensure compliance with driver's hours and working time directive legislation, keeping accurate records as required by law.
• Oversee the maintenance and safety of vehicles and associated plant, including MOTs, services, daily checks, and defect reporting.
• Monitor driver behaviours and competence, maintaining records of assessments.
• Conduct accident and incident investigations, providing outcome reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with loading vehicle regulations and educate drivers as needed.
• Implement processes to manage infringements, with the authority to sanction drivers for non-compliance.

• A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage Operations (mandatory).
• Extensive knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to handle incident investigations and accountability processes.
• Experience in managing supplier relationships.
