The following are the core responsibilities of the Treatment Room Nurse. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: a. Assist in and perform tasks related to patient care as directed by Management and GPs.
b. Cytology. c. Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations. d. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician. e. Assisting GPs as requested. f. Requesting pathology tests, for example swabs & actioning results.
g. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to Nurse Lead or GPs as appropriate. h. Carrying out travel consultations. i. Assisting in wound care. In addition to the primary responsibilities, our Nursing Team may be requested to: a. Maintain and clean equipment used by the Nurses and GPs.
b. Maintain GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required. c. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms. d. Ordering of Health Promotion Literature. e. Ensure adequate stock levels of clinical consumables are maintained.
f. Ensure vaccinations maintain stock levels are maintained. g. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice. h. At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records. i. A duty to advise Nurse Lead/ GP partners of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
