Dietitian – Nutrition Support Specialist

Band 6, £37,338 - £44,962 Per annum
  1. 5 hours per week (part time hours will be considered) Fixed term contract or secondment opportunity until June 2025.

Candidates with less experience are welcome to apply, as we will support their development from B5 to meet B6 competencies.

We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in nutritional support, including enteral feeding, to join our acute team as a band 6 dietitian.

This post is suitable for an experienced band 5 dietitian or a band 6 looking to widen their skills and experience, working with inpatients and covering a regular outpatient clinic for complex nutritional support patients.

Previous experience of managing malnutrition including enteral feeding is essential, and experience of parenteral nutrition would be beneficial but is not essential, provided appropriate transferable skills and expertise can be demonstrated.

You should have excellent clinical and communication skills, and can demonstrate an ability to be flexible, manage time effectively and have a strong commitment to teamwork. You must be a team player as the successful candidate will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a holistic and patient-centred service.

You will be joining our forward- thinking team of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services. We have excellent support staff and take students for clinical placements from University of Surrey & Coventry University.

As a Department and Trust, we will provide support and opportunities for clinical and leadership CPD. We also committed to supporting external education and career development opportunities. We have a dedicated Therapy Practice Education team to support staff development.

  • To provide, as part of the acute adult dietetic team, dietetic services for adult in and outpatients.
  • The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner and act as a source of expertise in the area of nutritional support. In addition, to be required to support dietitians providing dietetic care for inpatients with a variety of medical conditions.

Professional
  • To maintain a culture of confidentiality.
  • To identify problems where changes to practices and systems or additional resources are required to support caseload and to discuss these with line manager
Educational
  • To be proactive in identifying and addressing the educational needs of patients and carers, including medical, nursing and catering staff and other health professionals.
  • To ascertain the requirements for student training and to devise, deliver and supervise part of the student training programme.
Organisational
  • To ensure that your own practice meet the required professional standards of dietetic practice.
  • To be responsible for your own caseload with dietetic support to meet service and patient priorities, readjusting plans as situations change/arise.
