Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a full-time locum Consultant Ophthalmologist:This post is for an Ophthalmologist with a subspecialist interest in oculoplastic and lacrimal. Applicants will also be expected to have broad general ophthalmology experience.
We also have a specialised theatre at Andover War Memorial Hospital, as well as operating on cases in our day surgery units on both main hospital sites. Just one of our departments saw over 25,000 outpatient attendances in 2018/19 and nearly 5,000 inpatient and day-case operations.
This post is to cover maternity leave and is for a fixed period of 12 months.
Visits to the Trust

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to visit the hospital.
The post holder will:- Deliver specialist oculoplastic services including operating
- General Ophthalmology responsibilities and on call
- Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care
- Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
- Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E
- Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care
- Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team

Each of our existing consultants has a strong general Ophthalmology background with sub-specialty interests in medical retina, glaucoma, uveitis, anterior segment, oculoplastic, and paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
