Job overview
Our Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of our team providing assistance to our clinicians and practitioners. They will also undertake clinical and personal care with our patients within our Outpatient department.
They may contribute to the assessment of care needs and the delivery of planned care under delegation and direction of our senior team members. This will include recording and documenting patient outcome forms, physiological observations, minor dressings and application of splints/braces.To practice in accordance with our Trust standards and policies and to work within the boundaries of their role and individual competence.
Main duties of the job- Assist Doctors and other clinicians with the safe and effective running of outpatient clinics, including calling patients to correct clinic, directing patients to other departments, accurately completing patient outcome forms and onward to treatment rooms as necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Communicate effectively across a wide range of channels and with a wide range of individuals, the public and health social and care professionals. They will use both verbal and non-verbal methods of communication, dependent on the needs of the patient and address communication barriers. They should demonstrate the interpersonal skills that demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, respect and trust
- Ensure clear, concise, accurate and legible records and all communication is maintained in relation to care delivered, adhering to local and national guidance
- Ensure all patient related information is treated sensitively and always adhere to the principals of confidentiality.
- Challenge constructively within the multidisciplinary team, in an appropriate and professional manner, whilst acting as the patients advocate
- Deal effectively with staff of all levels throughout our Trust as and when they encounter on a day-to-day basis. In addition, they will deal with the wider healthcare community, external organisations and the public, including verbal, written and electronic media

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience
- Care certificate
- English & Mathematics at GSCE grade A-C (9-4) or level 2 functional skills
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience in a care environment or able to demonstrate a caring nature/ life experience
- Understands the need for strict confidentiality
- Working knowledge of complex care needs of some individuals/families including Safeguarding Children & Adults, Domestic Abuse and Mental Health
Specific skills
Essential criteria- Basic computer/keyboard skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to prioritise and organise work
- Able to work under instruction, under pressure and as part of a team
- Record keeping competency in handwritten and electronic records
