After 1 August 2020, Education Authorities can only appoint the following categories of people as permanent Head Teachers:-- People who have achieved the Standard for Headship.
- People appointed as permanent Head Teachers of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August 2020.
A person who has not yet achieved the Standard for Headship may be appointed as a head teacher, provided the appointment does not exceed 30 months.

St Kentigern’s Academy is a denominational school situated in Blackburn, West Lothian and serves a cluster of 8 primaries.
The school roll is currently 1077 the school is a very supportive environment with a relentless focus in driving up standards.
The School provides a broad education for young people from first year through to sixth year.
The school offers a full curriculum. The successful candidate will have the necessary experience and leadership skills to lead a team and assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence in order to support the improvement agenda of the authority.
Effective learning and teaching is the core business of all staff. It is, therefore, essential that all staff set high expectations to encourage young people to be all they can be in order that they achieve their full potential. This will allow them to leave school as effective contributors, successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
