Our varied work supports the crop protection, chemical and pharmaceutical industries so if you want to be part of a dynamic and growing team then please apply today.As a Laboratory Technician, you can be part of the Aquatic and Terrestrial teams that do this at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire.

As part of this team you will conduct all work in compliance with appropriate company standards and regulatory guidelines specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved

The job responsibilities include:

  • The receipt, handling, visual inspection maintenance of test organism cultures in accordance with current SOPs (standard operating procedures) and animal welfare legislation
  • Recording, collation and checking of all observational and scientific data as defined in the study plan and/or SOPs
  • Maintenance of stocks/stores of consumable glassware and chemicals; providing an adequate supply of such items and ensuring that work is not delayed by a shortage of such items.
  • Maintain all scientific equipment and engineering equipment, where appropriate in a good standard of repair and to record any such repairs or maintenance in accordance with current SOPs
  • Develop competent laboratory skills to support duties in primary area of work
  • Sets up and performs appropriate studies in primary area of responsibility based on the study protocol and in conjunction with the study team
  • Participate in study protocol reviews and in study meetings (ie pre-initiation meeting)
  • Maintains study documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment and delivers results within agreed timeframe
  • Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment and perform routine maintenance

Education / Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE's or equivalent including Maths, English and Science

Skills / Experience:

  • Team working skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions with excellent attention to detail
  • Previous laboratory support experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
