IT Security Specialist

Polytec are looking for an enthusiastic IT Security Specialist for our client based just north of Cambridge. You will be responsible for all things security within the department, ranging from handling incidents to reviewing / creating policies and documentation.

• Provide expertise and guidance on cyber security risks, threats, opportunities, and capabilities
• Advise colleagues on security requirements
• Offer guidance and mentorship to IT Apprentices supporting onward development
• Develop and implement new security standards and best practices
• Implement security enhancements
• Ensure compliance with internal security policies
• Create and update IT governance
• Ensure incidents are logged, monitored and tracked
• Alignment of security practices with accreditations including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST and CIS frameworks
• Vulnerability testing, risk analysis and internal security assessments

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience with incident troubleshooting and escalation
• Windows Server administration
• User Access privileges
• Knowledge of networks and physical infrastructure
• Strong customer service ethic
• Working knowledge of Cyber and IT Security concepts and practices
• Experience with security-related software including Zscaler, Darktrace, M365
• Familiar with reporting software including Splunk and SolarWinds
• Experience using vulnerability testing software such as Nessus
