Job Title: Contractor Lab Operations Scientist
Location: Livingstone, Scotland (Hybrid)

Type: Contract up to 1 FTE with 6 month (rolling) contract.

Job Summary:

Our client are a leading global Contract Research Organization (CRO), is seeking a skilled and proactive Contractor Lab Operations Scientist to support our laboratory operations. In this contract position, you will collaborate with our scientific teams to ensure smooth and efficient lab workflows, contributing to critical research and development projects across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Operations: Assist in the daily management of laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs, safety guidelines, and quality control standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for optimizing laboratory processes and workflows and assist in implementing best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Data Management: Collect, analyse, and document experimental data; prepare and present reports summarizing findings for internal teams and clients.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with scientists, project managers, and quality assurance teams to facilitate project execution and ensure timelines are met.
  • Equipment Oversight: Monitor laboratory equipment for proper functionality, assist with routine maintenance, and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Documentation Compliance: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results, ensuring adherence to regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) is required; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 + years of laboratory operations experience, preferably in a CRO or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with laboratory techniques and instrumentation relevant to the role; experience with LIMS and data analysis software is advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
