Are you an aspirant Finance Business Partner? Are you looking for a role that will enable you to stretch your financial, collaborative and communication skills to improve the delivery and sustainability of health care services within Southend Hospital and the wider Mid and South Essex system, while having appropriate support and development?

If the answer to the above is yes, then this is the role for you!

As Finance Manager your role is to manage the provision of finance and business support to local services within Southend hospital, including Accident and Emergency Care, inpatient, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services as part of a wider a multi-sited Foundation Trust.

This new role has been developed to enable you to develop into the role and take a step towards developing into a full Finance Business Partner in the future. The role will enable you to expand your management, and service support skills, while providing clear strategic financial leadership, delivering robust operational and financial management and improving cost effectiveness within the local services you will be supporting.

The role involves investigating and analysing complex technical issues to offer advice and support to senior management, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Strong persuasion and negotiation skills are vital for presenting contentious information to large groups.

With a workforce of approximately 15,000 staff, we are positioned to expand our reach and impact in delivering health services to local communities. Our goal is to provide outstanding local and specialist services, enhancing patient health and wellbeing while fostering a dynamic environment for staff development, innovation, and career advancement.

Patients will benefit from improved care quality, reduced delays, and increased access to once-in-a-lifetime specialist care across the region. Our expanded trust size creates more opportunities for development, research, networking, and innovation.

We aim to maximise our collective skills and experiences to achieve excellence. Operating as one organisation, we attract top talent and retain specialist staff via increased employment opportunities.

As a supportive finance function, we prioritise development and growth of our staff for both present and future needs. As part of our strategy to achieve Level 3 accreditation as a One NHS Finance trust, we have developed an inclusive Talent Management Strategy.
This strategy fosters a supportive team culture, aimed at bringing out the best in our finance team. We are committed to supporting and developing your skills, bringing your Personal Development Plan to life through coaching, training, and exposure opportunities.

These initiatives will contribute to the sustainable development of our corporate support services but also prepare you for future roles as Finance Business Partners.
