About the role

A critical role within Infrastructure & Programmes, you will directly manage multiple operational contracts within Direct Services and be responsible for ensuring the services provided by contractors are of the highest possible standards with regard to value, quality, safety & time.

You’ll work consultatively with colleagues and customers, listening to feedback to ensure the contracts deliver the excellent customer satisfaction we expect. You will represent the Trust in negotiations with various contractors managing relationships with the contractor’s and internal & external Stakeholders.

  • Indirect budget responsibility of circa £400,000 annual spend on allocated packages of works
  • Ensure all agreed contract work is specified, included in the works plan and accurately budgeted
  • Maintain locally, effective programme and contract performance and output monitoring and reporting to ensure planned objectives are met.
  • Provide contract administration advice and support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of the contract(s) to ensure compliance
  • Seek opportunities to deliver better value from the contract programme, cost, time or service related, agree and implement changes
  • Ensure all work programmes are planned and delivered safely
  • Provide contract management support and advice across the regional team to ensure compliance from all teams
  • Maintain strong communication processes to assess, monitor and report on programme delivery.
  • Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times
  • Ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promote inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.

About the Apprenticeship

The individual will complete a Level 6 Construction Site Management Degree Apprenticeship. Details of the apprenticeship can be found here: https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/st0047-v1-0

On a Trust apprenticeship, you will complete your apprenticeship training both on and off-the-job, including regular attendance at our chosen training provider (this could be virtual). You may be expected to stay away from home to attend training - all college related travel costs are paid for by the Trust.
Whilst on-the-job, you will work with supportive colleagues to get the best out of your apprenticeship experience. We may arrange placements for you to build your portfolio, as well as opportunities to work on projects. This involves working across our network, so you may be working away from home.

No two days are the same!

What skills and abilities do I need to have?

There is an expectation that you will have substantial construction experience, working on construction sites and with construction teams.

Demonstrable experience of successfully working on complex projects or programmes of work within construction.

Proven experience in safety management, able to assess risks and make adjustments to work methods where appropriate.

Strong interpersonal skills enabling the building of collaborative relationships across the Trust & with external stakeholders.

Experience of or exposure to contract or project management would be advantageous

What qualifications do I need to have?

As you will be expected to enrol on a degree qualification, one of the below prior qualifications is required:

Level 4 Construction Surveying Technician Apprenticeship Standard

OR

Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard

OR

HNC in Construction or Construction Management or Construction and the Built Environment

OR

HND or FdSc in Construction or Construction Management or Construction and the Built Environment

A valid driving license is essential.
