Teaching Assistant – SEN School in Portsmouth

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work with well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools in Portsmouth.

The schools that we work with are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for Primary and Secondary aged children with moderate and complex learning difficulties. The schools are great at creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive, and we need committed individuals who share this vision to support our students on their learning journey.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of moderate and complex learning needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Support the development of communication, social, and life skills.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure students’ needs are met.
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage and promote students’ independence and self-esteem.
  • Maintain and uphold all safeguarding policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN).
  • A caring, patient, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach to supporting student development and learning.
  • A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
