Job Summary
Northampton college are seeking an apprentice on behalf of an accounting company. They are looking for a candidate with a strong background in math's, great communication skills as well as a genuine passion for accounting. A strong willingness to learn and an excellent work ethic are key to this.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.What you’ll do at work
- Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of duties and processes, whilst under the instruction of skilled
- To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as your training progresses, undertaking tasks and increasing your overall contribution to the team
- Learning how to complete VAT returns, year end accounts, book-keeping, reconciliations and self-assessment tax returns
- Becoming a confident user of our software packages – Microsoft, Digita, ONVIO, XERO etc.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organization. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

- This apprenticeship role is initially fixed for three years; however, it has the potential to be made permanent
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
- Utilise accounting software such as Xero or Sage for various financial tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall financial management.
- Mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support in their roles.
- Proven experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero or Sage.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Experience in accounts payable processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Previous mentoring experience is an advantage but not essential.
