Deputy Head of Year

Deputy Head of Year - Key Responsibilities:
- One cover lesson per week:Deliver at least one cover lesson per week, stepping in to teach pre-prepared lessons, adapt to different subjects, and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Deputy Head of Year for two year groups:Support the Head of Year in overseeing the academic and pastoral care of students. Responsibilities include monitoring progress, managing behaviour, and assisting with year group events.
- Pastoral Care: Provide individual support to students, addressing personal, social, and emotional issues. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes student well-being.
- Behavioural Support: Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies, ensuring a respectful and conducive learning atmosphere. Address behavioural concerns promptly and effectively.
- Mentorship: Offer guidance and advice on academic progression, career aspirations, and personal development. Assist students in setting and achieving their goals.
- Parent and Guardian Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching staff, counsellors, and other support services to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
- Administrative Duties: Manage student records, monitor attendance, and ensure compliance with school policies and procedures.
Deputy Head of Year - Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant experience in pastoral care, behaviour management, or a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- As The Deputy Head of Year you should have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting student well-being and success.
- Knowledge of the challenges and pressures faced by secondary students, and the ability to provide appropriate support and guidance.
