Job overview
The post holder will be responsible for the direct patient care in the ophthalmic theatre setting. This will entail scrubbing and circulating for all
ophthalmic major and minor cases in the integrated ophthalmic unit.
Main duties of the job- Assessing the individual's care needs, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care to meet needs of patients and undertake all forms of care within the clinical environment.
- Liaising with staff from multi-disciplines in matters relating to patient care and equipment relevant to care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patients’ records and documentation ensuring confidentiality.
- To uphold the Trust’s dignity and respect standards – First Impressions.
- Ensure that care is appropriate, provided and is consistent with clinical guidelines.
- Using professional judgements is able to analyse a range of patient conditions and act appropriately.
- Maintaining high standards of patient care by personal example and professional conduct.
- Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.
- Liaising closely with other multi-disciplinary team members involved in care and support of the critically ill patient and their family, which may include being involved with a major trauma/deat
- The post holder will support the multidisciplinary theatre team in the overall running of patients attending for ophthalmic surgery. This role entails scrubbing and circulating for ophthalmic procedure's ensuring that high quality standards of care are maintained.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role of the registered nurse is to work within the multi professional team contributing to the ongoing assessment, providing and monitoring care in line with the service pathways.
Communicate effectively with dignity and respect to all patients and relatives.
Recognise and report any situations.
The post holder will be caring for ophthalmic patients who are attending for ophthalmic surgery under local, general and intravenous sedation in Stockport Eye Centre.
This role is a scrub role in the theatre setting for a band 5 nurse/ODP.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
