[ref. h8984122] Teacher of Psychology and Sociology with an interest to teach Criminology
Our excellent record of achievement is a testament to the strength, determination and sheer hard work of this community and this has been reflected in our most recent OFSTED inspection in which we achieved “outstanding” in all categories: https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50237842.
Sacred Heart school prides itself on its community and family ethos, and making every member of staff feel a part of that ethos. We are a standalone academy that treats our employees as people rather than functionaries. Once a week there is directed time after school, but otherwise we trust staff to work in the ways that best suit them, whether that is working in our staff workroom after school, or taking their marking and planning home.
We have outstanding rates of staff retention, and our staff are happy and love working for the school. We offer a bonus scheme for staff payable after every five years of unbroken service. Other perks of working at the school include free drinks in the staffroom and free breakfast once a week.Furthermore, the firm and clear behaviour management systems we have in place enable our teachers to focus on teaching in the classroom, rather than managing behaviour, and our investment in staffing over many years ensures that teacher pupil ratios – particularly in Key Stage 5 – are very low and on a par with many independent schools.
We expect you to be passionate about ensuring the best possible social sciences education for every one of our students. You will be a creative teacher who is ambitious for the students you teach, your colleagues' level of performance and your own career development.
Although we understand that potential applicants might not have taught criminology before but a desire to be willing to learn and adapt to the course would also be considered. The post is suited to an experienced classroom teacher, ideally with leadership experience, who is looking to join a successful and experienced team where standards are high and we strive for excellence.
