Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine Fellow

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled emergency medicine doctor to have a 12-month fellowship in pre-hospital emergency medicine working 80% in the Royal Surrey Emergency Department and 20% with HEKSS/ SECAmb / AAKSS.

Main duties of the job

It is an exciting time to join our team as we have recently redeveloped our Emergency Department and have implemented a wide range of new processes and pathways. We offer exceptional training opportunities in point of care ultrasound (POCUS) with two hours of dedicated teaching every week day!

There is also considerable scope for the successful candidate to be involved in service re-design, simulation and quality improvement projects. We have recently received awards and recognition for two projects at trust level. Engaged and motivated candidates will find themselves at home in a culture of aspiration and excellence!

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applications are invited from highly motivated and dynamic Doctors for a fixed term period from 6^th August 2025 to 5^th August 2026.

We are seeking to appoint an ST3-6 Doctor to join our experienced and trusted team who work together to meet the challenges of Emergency Medicine.

This post will provide excellent clinical experience, with the opportunity for personal development in areas such as QIP, POCUS and leadership. The successful candidate will take part in the full ‘Middle Grade’ rota. Duties will include daytime, night and weekend shifts in all areas of the department.

This post is not recognised as a formal Deanery training slot, but there are training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
  • FRCEM, European Board exam, master relevant to EM

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 4 years experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation from a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or equivalent, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice
  • Must have a minimum of six months training in each of anaesthesia, emergency medicine, intensive care medicine and acute internal medicine in posts approved for training at or above CT1 level of equivalent by intended start date
  • APLS/EPLS/ATLS/ALS
  • CPD - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
