The Assistant Recoveries Team Manager is part of our Payment Recovery Team, which will soon become part of the Benefit Expenditure and Debt Finance branch, whose objective is to support Social Security Scotland’s core values: that social security is an investment in the people of Scotland and that the system is to be efficient and deliver value for money, by protecting our resources from loss through malicious or accidental causes.
Main Duties- Line management responsibility for a team of Recoveries Officers, including managing performance and supporting staff with their personal development to enable them to reach their full potential, including skills development and training.
- Effectively managing and prioritising multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Using a Debt Management System, and other financial systems to establish the various payment methods received, carrying out full quality, error and other monetary checks.
- Overseeing mailboxes for debt or recovery queries.
- Reviewing and providing guidance on complex debt cases where expertise is required.
- Reviewing debt cases prior to referral for court action to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of referrals.
- Reviewing debt case decisions on complex cases.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across a variety of different functions to contribute to effective recovery of overpayments.
