The successful post holder will play a key role in the Care Group leadership team, providing managerial and day to day support to the HoOp and members of the triumvirate. The post holder will work with colleagues internally and externally in implementing the objectives relevant to the Medical Directorate.

The focus of the role will be to support the Care Group leadership team in achieving key performance indicators, ensuring that there are appropriate measures in place to monitor performance and agreeing remedial action/highlighting successes to the Care Group Management team.

Main duties of the job

Ensure that the service is compliant with agreed local and national

patient safety standards e.g. risk assessments, equality impact assessments, Standards for Better Health requirements.

Supporting delivering 18-week and cancer target pathways.

Take a lead in organising complaints received within the directorates, ensuring that statements are requested and responses collated within the

timescale required.

To take the lead on the implementation of digital dictation and electronic

discharge summaries.

Ensure that the activities or the team are properly co-ordinated to achieve

service objectives and standards, and that resources are adequately prioritised, identified and managed.

Ensure all HR practice is carried out efficiently and in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Have in place good team communication, including regular documented team meetings.

Work with colleagues to provide staff development and training opportunities ensuring staff are trained to a high level of customer care.

To lead on specific projects as agreed by the Directorate Team.

Develop strong relationships with key clinical staff within the directorates.

To be responsible for ensuring data quality in service areas and ensure

corrective action is taken where data quality problems are detected.

Analyse data to provide information to facilitate forecasting and planning, enabling the Medical Directorate to achieve key targets.

Provide cover for absent colleagues as necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Ensure that the service is compliant with agreed local and national
patient safety standards e.g. risk assessments, equality impact assessments, Standards for Better Health requirements.
  • Supporting delivering 18-week and cancer target pathways.
  • Length of stay reduction.
  • Take a lead in organising complaints received within the directorates,
ensuring that statements are requested and responses collated within the timescale required.
  • To take the lead on the implementation of digital dictation and electronic discharge summaries.
  • Manage the Services Secretarial Teams, putting in place a clear
management structure.
  • Ensure that the activities or the team are properly co-ordinated to achieve service objectives and standards, and that resources are adequately prioritised, identified and managed.
  • Ensure all HR practice is carried out efficiently and in line with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Have in place good team communication, including regular documented team meetings.
  • Work with colleagues to provide staff development and training opportunities.
  • Providing training and updates on the service development work as
necessary.
  • Ensure that all staff are trained to a high level of customer care and their progress is monitored on a regular basis.
  • Provide support to operational colleagues through the change management process, providing guidance, training or other support as appropriate.
  • To lead on specific projects as agreed by the Directorate Team.
  • Develop strong relationships with key clinical staff within the directorates.
  • To be responsible for ensuring data quality in service areas and ensure corrective action is taken where data quality problems are detected.

  • Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent level experience.
