Your new role
Within this role, you will lead key PMO functions, deliver to key stakeholders and high-profile personnel across the Government and contribute strategically towards the long term success of the organisation. Your role will entail:
Job Description/Key Accountabilities:
- Project and Benefits Management:
- Manage PMO functions and create key programme products (Balance Scorecards, PoaP).
- Collaborate with Project Delivery and assurance teams to align milestones and outcomes with strategic objectives.
- Liaise with programme heads on progress and delivery of milestones and benefits.
- Manage the Benefits framework in line with strategic objectives and project milestones.
- Continuously improve practice and realisation of benefits and outcomes.
- Risk, Issues, and Dependencies Management (Internal):
- Manage key risk documents and identify, prioritise, mitigate/escalate programme risks.
- Brief and update senior stakeholders and the G7 Programme Manager on key risks.
- Quality assure the dependency management process.
- Work closely with Governance teams and project delivery and assurance teams to manage risks effectively.
- Governance and Reporting (External):
- Provide effective program reporting on risks, milestones, and benefits to key programme oversight boards.
- Support the Programme Governance and Commissioning Lead in developing and operating refreshed Programme governance structures.
- Strategy Development:
- Assist in developing strategic objectives and aligning programmes with Cabinet Office direction.
- Play a leading role in developing a refreshed programme business case.
- People Management:
- Accept line management responsibilities and/or matrix manage project teams as appropriate.
What you will need to succeed:
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in programme or project delivery.
- Successful application of project methodologies (reporting, planning/scheduling, risk, and issue management).
- Ability to work autonomously and drive work forward.
- Proficiency with project management tools and benefits frameworks (Excel, MS Planner).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Willingness to travel between UK Hubs, including occasional overnight stays.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in corporate transformation initiatives, especially outside London.
- Experience in corporate business management (People and Finance Data).
- Relevant Programme or Project Management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, APM, Change Management).
You will receive a competitive day rate of £350-£450 and be working with high profile personnel throughout your time in this contract. This is a very exciting role which allows you to work at pace and make a real impact through working on a highly significant project.
