If so, we have an exciting opportunity as Deputy General Manager on a permanent basis covering Urgent and Emergency care across two sites in Bournemouth and Poole. This is a key leadership role in managing local Urgent & Emergency services.
The role will allow you to support shaping the future of our services, joining our team at a very exciting time as we undergo preparation for our ‘Big Move’ into our new/purpose built ED in the BEACH building in 2025.
We are looking for a compassionate and inclusive leader, who is highly credible and will provide strategic and operational leadership to the department and work as part of the existing team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of operational service management, and a commitment to continuous service development and improvement. They will be an effective and inclusive communicator, who can motivate and influence different clinical and non-clinical teams to achieve objectives
Experience of transformation and redesign of services is preferable as this role includes the planning and transition of our services to our new departments and services in 2 years’ time.

Main duties of the job
Specialty remit for this post includes: The Emergency Departments and Urgent Treatment Centres at both Poole and Bournemouth Hospital sites.
Both sites operate a 24/7 Emergency Department with Poole providing specialist Paediatric services and Trauma Unit status.
Individuals will be responsible for managing their directorate as part of an ambitious and supportive senior triumvirate team made up of Senior Matron, Clinical Director and General Manager.
These posts’ main duties are to oversee the daily operational functions, manage performance and improve service delivery for the directorate. They will also deputise for the General Manager. Other responsibilities include supporting a new management infrastructure across the sites within the directorate in line with the new merged organisation, establish quality improvement programmes to deliver efficiencies, lead ongoing merger reconfiguration work, have delegated financial authority to manage all budgets in the directorate and lead and support work to ensure the directorates hold the Trusts values at their core for their patients and staff.

Essential criteria- First degree or has appropriate level of senior management experience.
- Masters’ degree or equivalent relevant experience to the role or demonstrable equivalent working experience.

- Able to influence decision making and challenge at a senior level.
- Successful change management experience
