Job Description
The Role
As Group Finance Director, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for shaping and executing the financial strategy of the Group. Leading a multi-entity finance function, you will oversee financial management, reporting, strategic planning, and investment decision-making, ensuring Goonvean continues to scale efficiently and sustainably.
With a strong focus on M&A, capital investment, and operational efficiency, you will play a critical role in driving business transformation and supporting the Group's expansion.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the Group's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives.
- Lead the finance function, overseeing the Group Financial Controller and Segment Controllers.
- Drive M&A activities, including due diligence, integration, and financial structuring.
- Own financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring high-quality insights for strategic decision-making.
- Oversee capital investment appraisals, ensuring alignment with long-term value creation.
- Implement robust financial governance, ensuring strong controls, compliance, and risk management.
- Spearhead finance transformation initiatives, driving automation, efficiency, and system enhancements (including Power BI development).
The Successful Applicant
What We're Looking For- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant leadership experience
- Proven success as a Group Finance Director or senior finance leader in a multi-entity business.
- Strong track record in financial consolidation, forecasting, and reporting.
- M&A expertise, including financial due diligence, valuation, and post-acquisition integration.
- Commercially astute, with strategic insight and the ability to influence at Board level.
- Experience with financial systems (Sage preferred), Power BI, and automation technologies.
- A hands-on, proactive leader with a collaborative and innovative mindset.
