We are seeking TWO dedicated Pharmacy Technicians to join our Pharmacy Patient Services team. You will play an instrumental role in delivering exceptional patient care in one of the two independent positions available. Each role is unique, offering an opportunity to specialise in different aspects of our pharmacy services.
Post 1 Patient Services Lead–Elective Surgical Care: Opening August 2025, Bristol Surgical Centre (BSC) is our new elective surgery hub based at NBT working in collaboration with UHBW. BSC supports plans to reduce backlog, providing capacity for thousands of operations across, BNSSG.This role is an exciting opportunity to lead a Pharmacy team in the successful opening and the sustainability of BSC.
Post 2 Patient Services Lead–Emergency Zone Care: you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care. You will coordinate and support the supervision of the Pharmacy team, ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of medications to support emergency care.Working closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to support acute patient needs while championing best practices and innovation.

Main duties of the job
Provide & co-ordinate technical pharmacy services and contribute to the clinical service to patients within NBT including the Bristol Surgical Centre/Emergency zone wards/units.
Ensure medication reconciliation is completed.
Utilise Clinical Prioritisation training to carry out therapeutic drug monitoring, making therapeutic interventions within scope of practice. Prioritisation of high-risk patient conditions and high-risk medication.
Oversee the dispensing processes of medication for patient discharge, including counselling of patients on their medications. Ensuring discharge medication is dispensed directly to patients on-site.
Develop, implement, and review technical procedures, guidelines and policies relating to specific areas.
Participate in training of pharmacy and nursing staff on pharmacy operational aspects of Bristol Surgical Centre/Emergency zone wards/units.
Ensure that pharmacy technical services are lead in such ways to enable KPIs of respective areas to be met, collected, and collated to reflect and maintain patient care.
Have active participation in operational or clinical meetings relating to or involving elective surgical care/emergency zone care patients.
In collaboration with Pharmacy Supply Services ensure regular review of the safe and secure handling of medication within Bristol Surgical Centre/Emergency zone wards/units.
Undertake continuous services improvements to develop the pharmacy technical service to elective surgical care/emergency zone care.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria- BTEC National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or approved equivalent qualification
- Registered Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Accredited Medicines Optimisation Technician
- PWDS Clinical Prioritisation Qualification or equivalent (e.g. level 4 diploma)
- Leadership and Management Qualification
Work Experience
Essential criteria- Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy
- Understanding of current medicines management practices and dispensary practices
- Operational Management
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Essential criteria- Substantial post qualified experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in an Acute UK Hospital, with experience of a supervisory/management role at Band 5, or above
- Ability to plan personal and departmental workload on both short (days) and long term (months)
