Senior Pharmacy Technician

Responsibility for Patient Care Performs a final accuracy check on prescriptions and orders which have previously been clinically checked by a pharmacist and in accordance with Trust procedures and ensures dispensing errors are corrected by the appropriate member of staff.
(if appropriate) Provides a cost effective one stop dispensing service to designated wards, involving checking suitability of patients own drugs for use on the ward, arranging re-supplies of patients drugs, liaising with GPs, nursing homes and ward staff, assessing patients concordance and providing patient counselling and education where necessary.
Provides Medicines Management Service to all wards/departments when required Assist in discharge planning Carries out medicines reconciliation Interprets and dispenses prescriptions for inpatients, and discharged patients. Provides advice to patients with new/ongoing drugs, doses, possible side effects, and benefits of taking medicines/further supplies.
Liaises with various members of the pharmacy team and ward staff when solving supply problems and ensuring the best service to patients Concentrates while dispensing or accuracy checking prescriptions/calculating doses/quantities for supply whilst dealing with occasional interruptions.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £45.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
