DHSC is responsible for ensuring the system consistently delivers a high standard of care, and secures the best possible value for money from over £160bn of taxpayer’s funds allocated by Parliament. The finance function plays a crucial role in enabling the Department to fulfil its strategic objectives.
This role is in the Finance Operations team, which is responsible for delivery of the critical finance functions for the department, including maintaining and developing finance systems and business intelligence and working alongside colleagues responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, supplier maintenance, cash, transparency reporting, tax and buying coordinator requisitioning.
The role is focused on our finance systems, ensuring that the needs of the team’s stakeholders are met, and that change is well-managed and communicated. We are ambitious in our aim to innovate, take advantage of a range of emerging technologies and drive creative change to benefit our stakeholders.

You will be a key point of contact between Finance stakeholders and our third-party supplier, you will deliver a great service to maintain our ERP system alongside working as part of a highly supportive team to explore new ideas and drive innovative change.
This role is an exciting opportunity to steer the way our Finance systems are managed and developed. At the core of the role is the need to manage change to our ERP system, alongside operating as part of a highly supportive team in developing the team’s portfolio of data, systems and analysis through exploring ideas with internal customers.
Success in this position relies on building a blend of technical and finance understanding, alongside providing a great customer service to Finance stakeholders and representing our interests with the wider product community. You’ll be supported to learn and build on your skills in these areas in this role.
Strong organisational and communication skills are needed to manage different priorities and to ensure projects run smoothly.

This post offers up to £7,000 pay uplift for CCAB or equivalent qualified candidates.

The post-holder will be responsible for:
Maintenance and Change Processes:
- Leading the progression of change requests to our finance systems, monitoring delivery. Acting as a key point of contact for associated processes such as User Acceptance Testing.
- Representing the team, supporting your manager and team lead, at various governance forums, contributing to decision-making and supporting onward communications.
- Performing regular audits of compliance with security roles, liaising with Finance stakeholders for feedback where necessary.
- Build and maintain trusting working relationships with our internal IT service team, the 3rd party suppliers, audit, HR support teams and Finance users.
- Provide assistance to Finance users in how to use the D365 system providing ad-hoc training, updating user guides and obtaining additional information from 3rd parties where necessary to explain how the system operates.
Exploring opportunities to further develop the Team’s portfolio:
- Through close partnership working with our stakeholders, develop a clear understanding of the challenges they face in working with data and technology.
- Establish methods for capturing and prioritising our customer’s needs.
- Explore the scope and specification stages of potential solutions, working as part of a collaborative team.
