The Role

As a Production Operative at Clayton Glass, you will play an essential role in the manufacturing and processing of high-quality glass products. Your responsibilities will include supporting our production processes, ensuring top-notch quality, and adhering to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating Machinery: You will be responsible for operating various machines involved in cutting, shaping, and processing glass. This includes following operational instructions and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Handling and Processing Glass: Safely loading and unloading glass onto production lines or machines, ensuring that glass sheets or components are handled with care to avoid damage.
  • Quality Control: Conducting quality checks on finished glass products to identify any defects, such as cracks or chips, and reporting any issues to your supervisor.
  • Assembly and Packaging: Assisting with the assembly of glass units, such as double glazing, and packaging products for safe transportation or further production stages.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with health and safety regulations. You will also conduct basic maintenance checks on equipment and report any faults or malfunctions.
  • Material Handling: Moving raw materials to the production area and organizing inventory as needed to keep the production process flowing smoothly.
  • General Production Support: Working closely with your team to meet production targets, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting various tasks as needed to ensure an efficient workflow.

  • Manual dexterity. Good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness, as the role involves lifting and standing.

Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours, with the ability to work night shifts if required.
  • Driving Licence

Additional Information:

  • Location: Clayton Glass, Orchard Ct, Huthwaite, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 2HU
  • Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Rotating weekly shifts—06:00 to 14:00 one week, and 14:00 to 22:00 the next
  • Salary: Starting rate of £11.66 per hour, plus a shift allowance of £1.19 per hour
  • Positions Available: Up to 6 openings
