Job overview

We are recruiting for a Therapy Radiographer - MV Radiotherapy Dept who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) is one of Europe’s leading and largest cancer treatment centres. Clinical radiotherapy equipment comprises of six linear accelerators including five Truebeam units, image guidance technology and volumetric arc therapy (RapidArc) capabilities.

The Radiotherapy department is operational 7 days a week including bank holidays. External beam radiotherapy is routinely delivered between 8am-8pm Monday - Friday.

Main duties of the job

To carry out complex technical radiotherapeutic procedures on all the treatment and pre-treatment units in the department on a rotational basis. Undertake the appropriate care of patient, assessment of treatment progress and side effects making appropriate referral to the multidisciplinary team.

For each and every practical aspect of medical exposure that is carried out to assess patients’ level of knowledge before commencing with treatment and thus participate in the informed consent process.

To provide appropriate information or referring on as required. To guide, instruct and encourage patients receiving Radiotherapy and to advise patients on necessary aftercare.

To operate and care for all Radiotherapy equipment. To perform calculations to determine treatment exposure and to input and check treatment parameters on the treatment database for routine treatments.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

ENHT is seeking to maintain and expand the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre staff as we move to an exciting new future.

In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,134 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • DCR(T) or BSc in Radiotherapy and registered with the HPCP
  • Evidence of appropriate CPD activity where relevant
Desirable criteria
  • IGRT knowledge

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Student training across the breath of the Radiotherapy process. (2)
Desirable criteria
  • OBI knowledge desired
  • Post-registration experience within radiotherapy
  • Experience in dealing with the public
