Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Alternative Provision College, Worthing
Location: Worthing, West SussexPay: £100 per day
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of an Alternative Provision College in Worthing for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support the pastoral needs of secondary-aged pupils with complex behaviour and trauma-related additional needs.
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development within a specialist educational setting. Your focus will be on building strong relationships and creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment for pupils facing significant challenges in their education.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Provide pastoral support to students with SEN and complex behavioural needs✅ Assist in the delivery of tailored interventions to support emotional regulation and engagement
✅ Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised support strategies
✅ Help maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Requirements:
✔ Experience working in a school setting, preferably with SEN or alternative provision students✔ Ability to manage and support students with challenging behaviour and trauma-related needs
✔ A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people
✔ Minimum GCSE pass in English and Maths
