Job Purpose
As a IT Support Engineer for our dental group, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries and issues from our network of dental practices. You will provide remote support for day-to-day technical issues and on-site support as required.
Your goal is to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and hardware across the group, enabling dental staff to work efficiently and without disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Remote IT Support
  • Provide first-line technical support via phone, email, and remote access tools to resolve software, hardware, and network issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktop computers, printers, network connectivity, dental practice management software, and other clinical IT systems.
  • Respond promptly to support tickets raised by dental practices, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
On-Site Support
  • Visit dental practices across the UK when required to resolve more complex issues, install new hardware, or perform routine maintenance.
  • Ensure minimal downtime for dental practices by providing fast, efficient, and professional support.
Hardware & Software Management
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and support software applications used by dental practices, including practice management systems and other clinical software.
  • Perform regular updates and patches to ensure all systems are up-to-date and secure.
Network & Security
  • Monitor and maintain network connectivity and security in collaboration with the IT Manager.
  • Ensure appropriate antivirus and security protocols are in place and followed at all practices.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support or external vendors when necessary.
Documentation & Training
  • Maintain accurate records of all support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  • Assist in the development of user guides and provide basic IT training to dental practice staff as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with remote support tools (e.g., Team Viewer, Any Desk, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Office 365 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental practice management software (e.g., SOE Exact, R4, or similar) would be advantageous.
Problem Solving & Communication
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to explain technical issues in a clear and simple manner to non-technical users.
Personal Attributes
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel and provide on-site support when necessary.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an IT support role (preferably in a multi-site environment).
  • Experience providing remote IT support.
  • Exposure to the healthcare or dental industry is beneficial but not essential.
Additional Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to practices when required.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate urgent support requests, including occasional after-hours work.

Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
