Would you like to join the Imaging department based primarily on the Southmeand site at North Bristol NHS Trust.

We have various modalities that you may be assigned to work in CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, or Reception. We requireflexible individuals who may need to travel to the community sites, Cossham, Yate and Clevedon as well as working in the Brunel building.

You will promote a friendly and welcoming environment greeting patients into the department and work alongside other Imaging staff.

You will assist patient prior, during and post procedure ensuring their privacy and dignity is maintained.

You will act a chaperone, reassure patients, keep the rooms tidy and escort and transport patients as required using wheelchair, beds trollies etc.

You will also coordinate the workflow coming through your designated working area.

Hours of work:

  • The hours we cover are between 07:00 and 22:00 7 days a week including bank holidays.
  • We are offering full and part time hours (to be discussed with the successful applicants) you may be part of a rotational team or have specific agreed hours of work

Flexibility is important, there may be an opportunity to work additional hours to ensure we have adequate staffing levels.

There is an opportunity to learn additional skills working towards a band 3.

An Imaging Support Worker is a member of the Team appointed to receive patients into the department and support other Imaging Department staff to assist patients to meet their needs when visiting the Radiology Department

The post holder will be expected to undertake a broad range of activities under the direction of registered Imaging department staff

Clinical:

Support registered radiology/nursing staff in the provision of essential care topatients by assisting patients whilst in the radiology department according to trust policy and procedures with:
  • Acting as a chaperone whilst undergoing some examinations
  • To assist in the Imaging rooms, giving explanations and reassurance
  • Aiding dressing and undressing
  • To be able to undertake reception duties when required
  • Help to promote and maintain a clean, comfortable and tidy environment in the department, which meets the needs of patients, their relatives/carers and friends
  • Contribute to accurate written and computerised documentation relevant to patient care ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Assist the multi professional team to prepare and support patients undergo treatment and/or investigation maintaining privacy and dignity at all times
  • Chaperone patients during intimate procedures as required.
  • Escort and transport non-acute patients with no treatment in progress and/or their relatives/carers to other wards and departments within the Trust ,via wheelchair, beds and trolleys
  • Be aware of the importance of good health and the health education needs of patients as identified within individual care plans.

After completion of the appropriate training

Prepare and undertake agreed clinical activities (These will vary between wards and departments) such as:
  1. Receive and store medication and products
  2. Use of mechanical aids to assist movement and handling of patients
  3. Assist with the preparation of trolleys for use in clinical areas

Reception:

Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors in order to inspire confidence in the department and Trust.
  • Receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure request forms and other documentation is correctly completed in line with departmental procedures.
  • Maintain and update accurate attendance, personal and appointment details on the Computerised Radiology Information Systems (CRIS)
  • Update the electronic hospital system to ensure the correct patient details are available on the CRIS.
  • Confidently deal with queries coming through the department via telephone and face to face.
  • Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel.
  • Deal with incoming post and distribute throughout their area and where necessary re-direct to the correct area.
  • Perform general clerical duties and work within clerical teams under the office supervisor.
Personal Responsibilities
  • Maintain personal standards of hygiene and promote universal precautions to limit cross infection
  • To wear uniform as agreed by North Bristol Trust
  • Participate in training and development programmes as identified by the department Manager and contribute to the development of others
  • Keep up to date with changing practice attend Trust training programmes as required
  • Ensure the Trust’s Policies and Procedures are known and followed
  • Refer to the registered Radiographer/Nurse regarding any situation which is not within your current responsibility
