The post holder will:

  • Provide health care duties under the supervision of the qualified practitioner and implement nursing care in line with the assessed need of the young person or adolescent within the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team within a community setting.
  • Be expected to implement all relevant forms of care under the supervision of a qualified practitioner and/ or work as part of a team within the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team.
-Work within the extended service provision, including out of hours and work as required within the in-patient facility providing observation, delivering care and reporting significant changes.
  • On occasion deliver clinical support and interventions autonomously in the community / hospital setting including new crisis hubs within the community.
  • Be dedicated and competent and will have received additional training in the psychological and mental health needs of children/ young people and have access to supervision and support from Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health staff.

Main duties of the job

Support SCAMHS in developing a high-quality service by contributing to Service reviews, Investors in Carers Award, Health & Safety, and working collaboratively with Third Sector Organisations.

Deliver clinical interventions to an identified caseload under the supervision of the Qualified staff as part of the Crisis Assessment and Intervention team in a community setting as outlined in the Care and Treatment Plan and support in the delivery of a Crisis Response in line with the agreed protocol and policies.

Implement nursing care as directed by the qualified clinician, report observations to inform progress/ review of treatment and participate in effective liaison and team meetings to ensure robust communication across the service.

Undertake care as delegated by the qualified Practitioner. Document accurately all care undertaken on the relevant documentation i.e. (Care Partner).

Ensure all care is completed according to the HB and Specialist CAMHS guidelines and policies.

Assist the qualified Practitioner to undertake assessments/interventions for young people who have been admitted to the Age-Appropriate beds so that a mental health assessment and an assessment of risk can be completed.

Undertake observation levels in line with HB policy for all levels of Observation as per Policy including Level 3 observation of all children and young people and inform responsible clinician in charge of changes in mood /behaviour that may indicate a need for further assessment of risk.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
  • Have undertaken or be willing to undertake the Specialist CAMHS training in the Stages of Development, Mental Health Awareness, Child Protection training and Safeholding for Children and Young people
