Are you looking to further your experience as a specialised paediatric dietitian whilst working as part of a dynamic forward-thinking team in a tertiary children’s hospital? We are a friendly department of 32 dietitians, supported by dietetic support workers, Special Feed Unit staff and an administrative team.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and pro-active paediatric dietitian to join our paediatric intensive care, high dependency unit/s and surgery team on a fixed term maternity leave cover. The post provides a PICU nutrition service within our tertiary centre for children receiving cardiac or upper GI surgery and those admitted for burns and multi trauma across the Southwest region.The post holder will be involved in critical care, high dependency and transition to the specialist wards, as well as providing support and supervision to other members within the dietetic team. We are also a student trainer.
Main duties of the job
To apply for this post, you will ideally have previous clinical paediatric experience in at least one specialist area and have an interest in developing your paediatric intensive care dietetic skills using the BDA PICU Dietitian competency framework at band 6/7 level.
We have advertised this as full time 12-month fixed term maternity leave post at band 7 level, but will consider a suitably experienced AfC band 6 paediatric dietitian
Our department is committed to student training, quality improvement, research and audit. All staff are supported with regular meetings with their supervisor. We pride ourselves on our commitment to continuing professional development

Essential criteria- HCPC Registration
- Degree/Post graduate qualification in Dietetics
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Postgraduate diploma / MSc or evidence of advanced dietetic practice e.g. British Dietetic Association Paediatric Modules
- British Dietetic Association membership
- Clinical Supervisory Skills course
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria- Significant experience as a qualified dietitian at minimum Band 6 level or above
- Experience working in Paediatric Intensive care and other clinical specialities
