About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in South Manchester. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with their education and develop essential life skills.

Salary: up to £500 per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of students.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Facilitate group activities that promote social interaction and emotional well-being among students.
  • Collaborate with educational psychologists and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when dealing with challenging behaviors.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
