About the Role

The Oaks (St. Ann’s) is a modern residential unit for elderly citizens with a range of needs, including dementia. Citizens may be either short term or longer term residents, depending on their identified needs and circumstances.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Care Team Leader to lead and support our care team in achieving the highest standards of service. About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience & Knowledge
  • Proven experience in service provision within the care profession, particularly in dementia care.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred care planning and the ability to implement personalised care plans.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal, policy, and procedural frameworks relevant to adult social care and people management.
  • Experience successfully managing a team to meet objectives and drive high standards of care.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements relevant to care environments
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to oversee complex care services.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including report writing, and managing challenging conversations.
  • Effective administrative skills with the ability to update and utilise IT systems, analyse data, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to facilitate audits, implement quality improvement recommendations, and maintain compliance with Essential Standards of Quality and Care.
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, and develop teams, fostering a culture of learning and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with citizens, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and respect for individual rights and needs.
Qualifications
  • Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 (Qualifications and Credit Framework) or a willingness to achieve this qualification within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Knowledge of the Essential Standards of Quality and Care (Outcome 5).
Flexibility & Additional Requirements
  • Post holder is required to work flexible hours on shifts, including weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the service on a rota.
Desirable Criteria
  • Additional qualifications in dementia care or leadership and management in care settings.
  • Experience with formal people management processes (e.g., recruitment, attendance management, and disciplinary actions).
  • This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
  • A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
