Bridgwater, HPC site & Aztec West with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.

The Opportunity

As our next Project Engineer, your role will transform throughout the project lifecycle, blending technical expertise and quality assurance knowledge with essential project delivery skills. In the early stages, you’ll play a crucial role in preparing the DMIC (Design, Mechanical, Installation & Controls) Contract list and defining NNB’s requirements.
As the project progresses, you will ensure that contractor arrangements align with NNB’s expectations, oversee the fulfilment of all DMIC Commissioning prerequisites, and prepare the NNB Commissioning Team for effective surveillance of DMIC Contract Commissioning.

Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the project's success and adherence to the highest standards.

What you will be doing

As the DMIC Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that supply chain partners deliver their commissioning work and documentation in alignment with contract and project requirements at every stage. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, you will build strong, collaborative relationships with contractors, HPC project managers, quality leads, site engineering teams, and plant operations. Your ability to foster these connections will be essential in defining and controlling the interfaces within the commissioning process, ultimately driving the project toward success. Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Report directly to a Commissioning Manager within the NNB Commissioning Cross Functional Delivery Team.
  • Gather and maintain an organised list of DMIC Contracts along with their specific contractual requirements.
  • Serve as the key liaison between the Commissioning Delivery Team and Project Managers, ensuring seamless engagement and communication.
  • Develop and uphold the Commissioning DMIC End-to-End process, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
  • Act as a valuable point of contact for Commissioning Delivery Teams, providing expert advice on DMIC contracts.
  • Ensure consistency in the management of DMIC contracts across the Commissioning Delivery Teams while delivering awareness training to all relevant personnel.

Who you are

With a robust technical background, we’re looking for you to bring invaluable experience in commissioning power plants. Your proven track record reflects a commitment to safety and quality cultures, ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards. Coupled with your in-depth knowledge of quality assurance and quality control requirements, you are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of this field and drive excellence in every aspect of the commissioning process. Additional requirements we’re looking for include:

  • Strong commercial and contract awareness to navigate project complexities.
  • Proven experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex information effectively.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, providing a solid foundation for your expertise.
  • Familiarity with working in a regulatory environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Knowledgeable about CDM regulations, enhancing project safety and effectiveness.
  • Experienced in leading teams within a programme-driven project environment, driving results and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience in project management, whether as a client or contractor, within the nuclear or highly regulated industries.
