SEN School - Clinical Psychologist / Psychotherapist PART TIME
REPORTS TO: Multidisciplinary Therapy Team Lead
SALARY: £28,208–£41,426 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours)
HOURS: 8.30am - 4.30pm, 2-3 days a week, days to be mutually agreed, 40 weeks per academic year when the school is in session and remaining weeks in the school holidays.
START DATE: May 2025
The Holmewood School is a small independent day school for students aged from 7 to 19 who think differently and learn differently and have a primary diagnosis of autism. In May 2022, the school was judged Outstanding by Ofsted, and we have achieved Advanced Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society (NAS).
We are located across three campuses in North London (Woodside Park, Muswell Hill, and Finchley Central). The successful candidate would primarily be based at one of these sites but would be required to work at all sites as required to best support the needs of our students.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible, and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist or Psychotherapist who wants to develop their expertise in supporting neurodivergent students who think differently and learn differently within a neurodiverse setting.
You will join our multidisciplinary team of Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Psychotherapy (Music Therapy, Dance Movement Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy) and work closely with our education staff to support our students.This role involves providing integrated mental health services to our students across both our Upper and Lower Schools. You will work 1:1 with students who have complex mental health needs.
The post holder will receive clinical supervision from an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Line Management from the Therapy Team Lead, who is a Senior SaLT specialised in Solution Focused Practice. There will be opportunities for joint working and collaboration in exciting projects to support education staff, parents and families, as well as our students.

You will demonstrate a flexible approach to education and therapy, a willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, and the ability to work under pressure with students who may present challenges.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Masters level degree in the relevant therapy discipline from an approved training institution
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, and be a registered practising member of the professional association related to your therapy discipline
DESIRABLE:
- Relevant experience of therapy as a trainee or as a newly qualified therapist
- Prior experience working with autistic and other neurodivergent students who think differently and learn differently
- Knowledge of competencies/standards framework required for the relevant therapy discipline.
- Evidence of CPD in relevant areas of practice (for example Education, Autism, ADHD, Mental Health, Executive Function Skills)
- At least one year’s experience working in a relevant area
